Universal Robots, PickNik, and Forschungszentrum Informatik released a beta version of a ROS 2 driver. The driver works across UR’s entire cobot line, including the newer e-Series cobots.
The ROS 2 package is compatible with the Doosan Robot Language, so operators who are familiar with Doosan but have basic ROS knowledge can create robotics application.
The new driver will take advantage of ROS 2 features such as component nodes and zero-memory copy integration with ros_control. From a performance perspective, the major benefit is decreased latency.
