OnRobot has been upfront about its aggressive plan to expand its product portfolio. It appears the Danish company is sticking to its word as it just released its second new product in about one week.
The new OnRobot 3FG15 three-finger gripper features a 150mm stroke and 15 kg (33 lb) payload. It offers a gripping force from 10-250N. The OnRobot 3FG15 is designed for heavy payload machine tending applications that require precision and flexibility.
The OnRobot 3FG15 was also designed for packaging and palletizing applications. OnRobot said the gripper is compatible with any major collaborative robot or light industrial robot arm through the company’s award-winning One System Solution. This platform provides a unified mechanical and electrical interface between the robot arms and any OnRobot EoAT.
“Our new 3FG15 three-finger gripper was developed as a response to existing pneumatic three-finger grippers that are bulkier and less flexible,” said OnRobot CEO Enrico Krog Iversen. “We have long defined the market for electric parallel grippers with the RG2 and RG6 series, and we look forward to addressing new market segments and applications with a new three-finger gripper that allows users to deploy applications faster even with highly accurate, fixed positioning.”
Last week OnRobot introduced its Gecko Single Pad (Gecko SP) gripper, a smaller version of its end-of-arm tool for industrial and collaborative robotics uses. It comes in three sizes – SP1, SP3, and SP5 – named after its capacity in kilograms (2.2, 6.6, and 11, respectively).
In December 2019, OnRobot raised $27.5 million from the European Investment Bank and several Danish investors.
OnRobot was created in 2018 with the merger of OptoForce, Perception Robotics, and On Robot. It acquired Purple Robotics in August 2018 and the assets of Blue Workforce earlier in 2019. It also raised funding and opened a research and development office in Los Angeles.
OnRobot’s product portfolio also includes electric grippers, force/torque sensors, and tool changers.
