Collaborative robots can accelerate inclusion of people with disabilities in work, said Rethink Robotics, wertkreis Gütersloh, and the University of Duisburg-Essen. They are using two Sawyer cobots in a demonstration project.
Rethink Robotics GmbH, a subsidiary of German automation expert HAHN Group, opened its new headquarters and production facility in Bochum, Germany. Rethink also announced Siemens Technology Accelerator acquired a minority stake in the company.
HAHN Group acquired DAHL Automation, a German robotics integrator. The deal expands HAHN’s presence in intralogistics and autonomous mobile robots.
A year after HAHN Group acquired the assets of the defunct Rethink Robotics Inc., Rethink Robotics GmbH unveiled Sawyer Black Edition, which is quieter, more precise, and intended for industrial applications.
Former integrators for Rethink Robotics explain what went wrong with the company’s cobots and comment on HAHN Group’s plan to revive the Sawyer product.
The Sawyer collaborative robot will live on past the shutdown of Rethink Robotics, thanks to IP purchased by HAHN Group.
