Doosan cobots now available in China

September 27, 2019 By Steve Crowe Leave a Comment

The collaborative robots from Doosan Robotics are now available to customers in China. The official launch into the Chinese market came during the China International Industry Fair (CIIF) at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

Doosan’s first distributor in China is Linkhou, a Suzhou-based company that specializes in providing core components and parts to the smart manufacturing and industry automation sector. Doosan is looking to expand its network in China. Its cobots have already been available in European and North American markets.

Doosan’s M Series includes the M0609, M1509, M1013, and M0617 cobots that offer reaches between 900-1,700 millimeters (35.4 to 66.9 inches) and payload capacities of 6-15 kg (13.2 to 33.1 pounds). The four M Series cobots are equipped with six torque sensors in every joint.

Check out the comparison chart below for more details about the M Series cobots:

M0609660.9± 0.1mm
M15096150.9± 0.1mm
M10136101.3± 0.1mm
M0617661.7± 0.1mm

“We are honored to bring our cobots to China, a strategic ground to many global technology leaders and a hub for Asia’s USD six trillion manufacturing industry,” said Doosan Robotics CEO Byungseo Lee. “Doosan cobots address the need for safe and sophisticated robot colleagues in diverse fields of automation businesses in China – they will maximize productivity and empower humans in various workplaces.”

Doosan, of course, is powered by parent company Doosan Group, which has a storied heritage of engineering excellence in Korea. Doosan claims to have the largest cobot marketshare in Korea.

The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) recently released its annual World Robotics Report. For the first time, the report tracked the number of collaborative robots sold worldwide. According to the IFR, less than 14,000 cobots were sold in 2018, accounting for 3.24% of total industrial robot sales. However, the 2018 numbers are an increase of 23% from the 11,000 cobots that were sold in 2017.
